Add Data
Users signed into an ArcGIS online account also have the ability to quickly add datasets from their own GIS libraries. The default is empty, click the "Click to add data" button.

The following pop-up gives the user the opportunity to search their organization and groups (if connected) or the public spatial layers in ArcGIS Online and the Living Atlas. You can also provide a link to spatial file or upload a supported file format.

For example, Selecting ArcGIS online and searching "Massachusetts" brings up datasets from other GIS users as well as state published datasets. Click the ⓘ button to see more info about the layer, then click the layer result so it is highlighted in green with a tab in the top right corner and then click done.

Once the layer has been added, click "Add to map" in the drop-down menu of the four circle "Actions" button. You can remove the layer with the trash can icon or rename the layer with the pencil icon. The map will zoom to the extent of the added data.

If the layer does not appear, navigate back to the Explore Layers tab. Toggle the visibility of the added layer to view it on the map. Transparency, layer drawing order and legends can be viewed on the Explore Layers tab.
To remove the layer, click the trash can icon on the bottom right of the map view. Then select the layer you want to remove. This does not remove the layer from the Add Data tab where you can add it back to the map or table
